“Be still and know that I am God.”
~Psalm 46:10

I can’t take credit for the idea of utilizing this particular scripture as a meditation. In fact, I heard an example of it in a church sermon a year or so ago. I’ve always loved this verse. It reappears in my friends’ work, my own, and at various sermons and lectures I attend. Heck, it even shows up in the research that shows that we ARE wired to connect. (I highly recommend the books, What Your Body Knows About God by Rob Moll, and Brave Strong True by Dr Kate Hendricks Thomas, by the way. Both of these researchers do a great job at explaining that connection and how it impacts our lives.)

But here’s the gist – this scripture can be broken down in bits to be used as a meditation. It goes like this. Repeat silently to yourself:

  • Be still and know that I am God.
  • Be still and know that I am.
  • Be still and know.
  • Be still.
  • Be.

A few options for the practice approach are:

  1. Simply repeat the five lines.
  2. or after a few rounds through all layers of it, stop on the line most resonating with you and continue to repeat it.
  3. or if “God” with a capital “G” isn’t your jam, skip that first line, and call in whatever form of Divine love that runs through you.
  4. Come up with other ideas? Awesome! Please share them and post below.

Wishing you well this Sunday. <3
